Wanni Fuga’s showcase of their newest collection “Garden of Fuga” was held in Different Gallery on Percy Street. The collection is a tribute to Wanni Fuga’s community, founder and creative force behind the brand Toluwani Wabara said “Our customers have been the soil that nurtures our vision. This collection is our way of honoring them, celebrating the community we've built together.” Entering the gallery on Sunday felt like peering into a secret garden, built upon the creative vision of the designer’s universe.
Fresh grass and flowers covered the floor and walls, we took it all in as the sweet-fresh air took over our senses. Some attendees wore head to toe Wanni Fuga, whilst others wore pieces inspired by previous collections. Standing in the main gallery space, everyone shone with an ethereal beauty, floating around like goddesses. For a collection inspired by its community, there could not be a better representation, it truly felt like everyone in the space belonged to the Wanni Fuga family. Soundtracked by the immaculate tunes of DJ Mercedes Benson, as small talk and giggling flitted about.
The collection of ten looks, were fitted on mannequins atop their respective plots of fresh grass and white flowers. “Garden of Fuga” stands to represent planting a seed, nurturing and helping it blossom. The metaphor was palpable and directly aligned with the Wanni Fuga brand, as Toluwani Wabara has grown beyond fashion, into an expansive community. The collection flows from rich blues, glittering greens, to deep onyx. Constructed from decadent varied fabrics and organic textures - each clearly found inspiration in nature’s essence of renewal.
